Cast chrome-cobalt frameworks are the gold standard for removable partial dentures — they are rigid, thin, and preserve the health of abutment teeth better than acrylic alternatives. We design frameworks digitally in 3Shape for optimal rest-seat, clasp, and major connector placement before a single piece of metal is cast.
Valplast flexible partials are indicated when patients refuse any visible metal clasps in the anterior or when a transitional appliance is needed while implants osseointegrate.

Which partial suits which patient?
Cast chrome-cobalt when you want a rigid, definitive partial built to last — it is the strongest option and the thinnest across the palate. Acrylic for interim and transitional cases. Valplast flexible nylon when the patient objects to visible metal clasps and the case suits it.
Do I need to design or survey the case before sending it?
No. We don’t need a drawn design from you — send the case with the preparations completed and we will design the framework and fabricate it from there.
What do you need from me?
The preparations done and ready, and an impression or scan that captures them along with the rest of the arch and the opposing. We take it from there and produce the metal framework.
How do you handle clasp placement and esthetics?
We design clasps digitally, balancing retention against how visible they will be. If a clasp is going to sit somewhere esthetically sensitive, tell us on the Rx and we will work around it where the case allows, or suggest Valplast if metal is the objection.
Can I send a digital scan instead of an impression?
Yes. If your scanner supports it, add GIE as a connected lab and send cases straight from your portal — see connect your scanner. If your system isn’t supported, upload STL or PLY files directly through send your scan files. Conventional impressions are also accepted — call and we’ll send a FedEx label for pickup.
Do I get a framework try-in?
Yes — it’s included by default. We send the framework for you to try in and verify the fit before we set teeth and finish the case. If you would rather we go straight to finish on a particular case, note it on the Rx and we’ll skip it.
